(Advocate, founder of Heal and Soul and the foundation for CDKL5 Research ANZ (AFCR) Holistic practitioner incorporating western medical, eastern traditional, alternative health practitioner for physical, mental, nutritional, pharmacological advice and education.)
Like many others, Simone never had one strong passion for a specific job or career. So, she just followed opportunities that challenged and extended her life experience and hoped it would lead to something wonderful and meaningful.
This lead to deciding which Allied health profession would be enjoyable, while allowing scope to work in varied places and in many capacities.
Mental health and the power of language in affecting change and cures are another huge interest as these areas are so powerful in helping people heal and feel happy and heard.
Who is Simone? Education and personal life
Simone has always had an active lifestyle. She has delved in areas like competitive body building, was an ambulance driver in the army, completed high levels of classical piano, traveled and lived overseas, studied Italian and loves learning different languages, was a midwife to 250 sheep in southern Scotland, been an active member of Geelong Bollywood Dance group and recently competed in Tamworth and the Southern States Line Dance championships.
Simone has become a strong advocate in the world of disability due to the very rare genetic condition of her son, Raffael. While specifically creating awareness and contributing to research for CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder, she is also committed to making a difference to all disability through attendance at conferences, blogging, speaking to groups and advocacy for our vulnerable members of society. This experience made her acutely aware of how far we still need to go to achieve equality and right to life for all people despite their differing abilities, medical complexities and age.
Simone’s main reason behind her journey was her willingness to help those in a state of need, together with the desire to solve problems in the fastest, least difficult way possible. Substantial differences emerge, however from usual doctors.

Jane McAvoy- Naturopath / Bowen Therapist
Jane McAvoy commenced clinical practice in Geelong and Lara in 1999, after completing her Health Sciences degree in Naturopathy and Massage Therapy.
Jane’s approach to treatment is a fusion of traditional healing methods from many cultures, modern science and practical common sense. As most health issues may stem from many causes, her broad experience and thorough assessment help clients save time and money in their quest for good health. For example a person may suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome due to a pinched nerve in their back, mineral or chemical imbalances, muscle tension, food intolerances, sub-clinical infection, poor diet, stress, or a combination!
Unfortunately many people suffer unnecessarily on a medical merry-go-round or put up with their symptoms as due to “age”. Naturopathic treatment also succeeds in that “grey area” between great health and disease, where people know they don’t feel as well as they should, but nothing abnormal shows up yet on medical tests, by assisting the fundamental needs of the body – getting nutrients in and waste out of all areas.
Bowen is the main massage technique Jane uses to gently re-align the musculo-skeletal system and assist lymphatic drainage. For example, many people take glucosamine supplements for arthritis, but unless muscle tension is addressed in affected areas, very little will get delivered where it is most needed.
Jane especially enjoys the educational aspect of her work. With more knowledge and understanding of natural body functions and processes, clients make lasting positive changes with enthusiasm.

Dr Matthew Carbery utilizes the highly regarded Gonstead system of Chiropractic to provide immediate results and long lasting relief. Developed by American Dr Clarence Gonstead, it has become a world leader in Chiropractic techniques today. Due to the remarkable results Dr Gonstead achieved, and as Chiropractors from all round the country were fascinated in his technique, he became known as the Chiropractor’s Chiropractor.
Gonstead Chiropractors use meticulous analysing procedures to determine spinal dysfunction and nerve interference. When necessary, weight-bearing plain film radiographs are taken. This allows the Chiropractor to safely determine the most effective adjustment required. Spinal adjustments are performed by hand to allow specific control and accurate application. A great deal of skill is required to perform a Gonstead Chiropractic adjustment. These manual spinal corrections involve only minimum rotation, and aim to restore normal functioning to the spine. Patients often report varying degrees of relief within just a few visits. Gonstead Chiropractic adjustments are safe, effective and tailored to suit all ages, from babies to grandparents.
